What does Devadhi make?
Devadhi makes handcrafted articles for daily seva: singhasan (thrones), jhula (swings) and sofas for the Laddu Gopal murti, also known as Bal Gopal or Kanha ji, and aasan for any idol in your mandir. Every piece is finished by hand.
What is a singhasan, jhula, sofa and aasan?
A singhasan is a throne or seat, a jhula is a swing, a sofa is a cushioned seat with bolster takiya on either side, and an aasan is the seat laid down for a murti inside the mandir. Each is used in daily seva to place and adorn your idol.
Are the aasan only for Laddu Gopal?
No. An aasan is the seat laid for a murti in the mandir, so the same aasan serves Laddu Gopal, Radha Krishna, Ganesh ji, Lakshmi ji, Shiv ji, Hanuman ji or any other idol. What decides the fit is size, not the deity: choose the size to suit the base of your murti. Our singhasan, jhula and sofa are shaped for Laddu Gopal specifically.
What is the difference between a sofa and an aasan?
A sofa seats the murti upright with a back and bolster takiya to support it. An aasan is the seat the murti is placed on inside the mandir, so it rests a little above its floor. Many homes use both, the aasan in the mandir and the sofa beside it.
