Every piece is worked by hand, one at a time. The detailing, the shaping, the setting and the finishing, all of it done at a bench and never on a line. This is the work that goes into a single poshak, jhula or singhasan.
The detail
Every piece begins on a bench, under someone's hands. The pattern is worked in one small piece at a time, each detail set on its own and pressed down until it holds. The smallest piece takes the same hours of close work as the largest, and the pattern is never hurried.
The making
Then it is shaped and put together by hand. Parts are fitted, strung and stitched until everything hangs true and sits level. It is slow work, and it is the reason no two pieces are exactly alike.
The finish
Each piece is finished, cleaned and looked over before it leaves us. The last look is given in daylight, never under a bulb, and it is packed by the same hands that made it.
